CHILDREN’S CULTURAL FESTIVAL 2012

PERFORMANCES BY CHILDREN FOR CHILDREN
April 17, 2012- The Turkish Cultural Center, in collaboration with several other cultural centers and schools in the Greater Boston Area, is organizing its first annual Children’s Cultural Festival. The goal of the event is to foster cultural awareness by providing children a chance for cultural expression. Elementary and middle school students from the Greater Boston Area will be participating in the Festival which contains two components: an Art & Writing Contest and many stage performances followed by an Award Ceremony.
The Festival is scheduled to be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Boston University Morse Auditorium, Boston MA from 2:00PM- 5:00 PM. The event is free and open to all.
The organizers of the Children’s Cultural Festival state, “Diversity is a word we hear often but not enough,” and “…foundations of awareness and appreciation of diversity are best set down and fostered at young ages.” Through dance and musical performances, all performed by children who identify with various cultural backgrounds, the organizers of the Festival aim for a joyous gathering  that will bring together diverse communities from the Greater Boston Area and will be enjoyed and appreciated by children and families. 
Opening remarks of the Festival will be delivered by the keynote speakers Representative Kay Khan and Consul General of Turkey, Murat Lutem. Some of the participants and sponsors of the Children’s Cultural Festival include:

Event organizer Turkish Cultural Center (TCC) Boston is one of the many branches of Turkish Cultural Centers located around the Northeastern coast of the United States.  A non-profit organization, TCC Boston is “dedicated to promoting harmony in diverse cultural settings”. TCC Boston organizes Turkish language and cooking classes, trips to Turkey, Annual Friendship Dinners, Luncheon Forums, conferences and much more.
